This study aims to determine and analyze the impact of the perception of students in the activities of guidance and counseling on learning achievement lesson Social Studies (IPS) Class VIII student of SMPN 1 Banjarmasin. The approach used in this study using action research with the form of classroom action research. Data analysis by organizing the data, translate it into the units, synthesize, organize into a pattern, choose what is important and that will be studied, and make conclusions. Based on the research shows that the first post-test results showed that the increase in student achievement is compared with pre-test values ​​increased an average of 44.61%. Likewise, the second post-test score average increased 66.42% when compared with the value of the pre-test and increased 15.08% when compared to the value at the first post test. Thus, learning social studies approach through guidance and counseling can increase learning achievement in social studies class VIII student of SMPN 1 Banjarmasin.
