The purpose of the research is to determine the quality of malleable cast iron obtained from white cast iron with Heat Treatment through the softening process of metal casting furnace black production in Ceper Klaten . Testing includes testing the chemical composition of the CE meter, testing Brinell hardness with test equipment, test microstructure with a magnification of 100 times and 200 times, Charpy impact testing method. White cast iron containing elements tested C 4.05% , Si 1.2 % with initial pouring temperature of 13280 C , the temperature of liquid 1124.7 0 C. The solid point when Constance at temperature 11240 C, 10870 C fluid saturation point and tensile strength when poured 120.7 N. In white cast iron is harder because of the cementite. At the time of softening , white cast iron cementite decomposes into ferrite and graphite so that the fracture looks black . Cast iron is very tough and graphite arising shaped or spherical clumps spread evenly. Prices average hardness of white cast iron before Heat Treatment in HB 274.4 and after Heat Treatment at 186 HB. Energy obtained from impact testing is used to break a rod with a single blow before the test in 67.7 joules of Heat Treatment and after Heat Treatment at 118.6 joules. The greater the lower the energy absorbed from the pendulum swings back. Of the energy per unit area obtained J/mm2 price impact is greater than 1.48 before Heat Treatment at 0,64 J/mm2.
