This research tests the effects of the variables such as Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), and Non Performing Loan (NPL) on the Return on Equity (ROE) in the Indonesian Stock Exchange from year 2007 –2010. The analysis tool that was used is a multiple linier regression analysis, and it is used to test 18 banks that have been chosen as samples. The research result shows a negative and significant impact of the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) to the Return on Equity (ROE), while the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) has a positive and significant effect to the Return on Equity (ROE), so that it has a parallel increase. Different from those, the Non Performing Loan (NPL) has no negative and significant effect on the Return on Equity (ROE) of the 18 banks in the Indonesian Stock Exchange.
