Youth Pledge results Indonesian Youth Congress dated October 28, 1928
is the crystallization of Indonesian nationalism. Indonesian is derived from the
Malay language as one of the regional languages evolved into an intermediate
language (lingua franca), continues to be the national language, and eventually
became the state language. Indonesian plays an important role for Indonesian
nationalism. Indonesian is an established blood fertilize nationalism and our
society. As one of the pledges Youth Pledge, Indonesian significance for Indonesia
as a nation with a large Sagat area consists of over 13 thousand islands, many tribes
(652), many languages (742), even many religious and believe but united in a single
unit nation, country, and language. Indonesian therefore not only as a
communication tool, Indonesian is a unifying tool, a tool in the struggle of
nationalist movement and struggle for Indonesian independence. As the national
language, Indonesian serves as: a symbol of national pride, a symbol of national
identity, linguistic unity of the various different languages, as well as the language
of inter-regional and inter-cultural communications. As the state language,
Indonesian serves as: official state language, the language of instruction in
educational institutions, the lingua franca in the implementation of national
development and governance, as well as language in the development of modern
science and technology. Besides, Indonesian is the language of government,
language development, language mass media, as well as the development language
and literary culture.
