The objectives of the research were to find out the linkage of fishery sub-sector to other economic sectors, impact of fishery sub-sector on the multipliers of output and regional income, and feasibility level of fishery cultivation business especially the cultivation of nila and patin fish in pond in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency.
The research employed Input Output Table data of Hulu Sungai Utara 2007 made by Statistic Center of HSU Regency. The descriptive analysis of Input Output Table was employed to analyze the linkage and impact of fishery sub-sector.
The research result indicated that land fishery sub-sector in HSU Regency had the highest direct forward output linkage to dried and salted fish; meanwhile the highest direct backward linkage was to food processing and preserving sectors.
It could be indicated from the direct as well as indirect forward and backward linkage of fishery sub-sector to each economic sector in HSU Regency that the highest sector having direct and indirect forward linkage was to the land fishery sub-sector itself.
The value of output multiplier of fishery sub-sector was 1.115945 indicating that each rupiah of the last demand increase in land fishery sub-sector would increase output of all sectors in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency to the amount of Rp 1.115945. Meanwhile, the value of income multiplier of land fishery sub-sector in Hulu Sungai Utara was 0.267786 indicating that each increase of one rupiah of the last output demand of land fishery sub-sector would increase community income to the amount of Rp 0.267786.
