Objective of the research was to study the effect of NPK compound fertilizer on the growth of oil palm seedling. The research lasted for about four months (from February 2011 to May 2011) and it was carried out in Muara Kedang Village, Bongan Sub Disctrict of West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province. The Completely Randomised Design was employed for this research with factorial experiment 2 x 6 and 4 replications. The first factor was kind of NPK compound fertilizer, consisted of 2 sub factors: Phonska (m1) and Mutiara (m2). And the second factor was dosage of NPK compound fertilizer (D) that consisted of 6 sub-factors: no NPK compound fertilizer application (d0), 1.5 g polybag-1 (d1), 2.0 g polybag-1 (d2), 2.5 g polybag-1 (d3), 3.0 g polybag-1 (d4), and 3.5 g polybag-1 (d5). Results of the research indicated that : (1) the application of NPK compound fertilizer affected very significantly on the increment of seedling height at 4, 5 and 6 month old, number of leave at 4 and 5 month old, and stem diameter at 4, 5, and 6 month old; but it did not significantly effect on number of leave at 6 months. The best growth was attained on the Phonska fertilizer treatment; (2) the dosage treatment of NPK compound fertilizer affectted significantly on the increment of leave number at 4 and 5-month old and stem diameter at 6 month old; but it did significantly effect on seedling height at 4, 5 and 6-month old, number of leave at 5 months, and stem diameter at 4 and 5-month old. The best growth was attained on the 3.5 g polybag-1; and (3) Meanwhile, the interaction between them was not significantly effect on all parameters observed.
